Once upon a time, there was a monster named "Nian", who lived in the sea. His head was sharp and fierce. On New Year' Eve, he would climb ashore and hurt livestock. People had to fled to the mountains to avoid the harm of "Nian". While, this year, from the village came an old man with silver beard. In the middle of the night, when "Nian" was ready to act violet. The firecrackers cracked suddenly. The old man on red robe stand in front of "Nian". This monster shuddered. He fled back to the sea and never dare to come back. This is the legend of Chinese Luna New Year. Thousands of years have passed, the tradition of setting off firecrackers continues to this day.

Now, the Luna New Year is also called Spring Festival, which is the grandest traditional festival in China. Lanterns are hung. Couplets are posted. Celebration activities are rich and interesting. It embodies the essence of traditional culture of Chinese civilization. It is also a time for family reunion. People who are away from home will come back home and get together with their families during the Spring Festival. They celebrate the holiday and share the happiness together. On New Year's Eve, the whole family will have dumplings at dinner, symbolizing the reunion and happy of the New Year.
